This is Module 5 of 8 of my popular Fundamentals of Change Management Course.
Module 5 contains 70 slides with the following 3 sessions:
• Session 1 "Sponsorship" – Provides details of the critical role of a sponsor plus their key roles plus an outline of their key activities during projects + a case study.
• Session 2 "Stakeholders" – Introduces a simple stakeholder engagement model and how stakeholders can be analysed and managed + a case study.
• Session 3 "Communication" – Describes a simple model and how to create change awareness plus what different channels can be used + a case study.
This and the other 7 modules are the actual slides I use during the course but these will come without context. You also need to be aware that these slides include the animations that I use during the course when you view them in "presentation" mode. The slides have been made available due to strong customer demand for those that prefer the form of learning through reading which focuses on the written word. Reading and writing learners succeed with written information on worksheets, presentations, and other text-heavy resources. They are note-takers and perform strongly when they can reference written text.
Course feedback to date shows the following:
• WORKSHOP LEADER (not necessarily relevant to this online version but included for completeness) – Was knowledgeable, Presented professionally, Was easily understood, Was enjoyable to listen to, Was easily able to answer questions = 96% Strongly Agree or Agree
• WORKSHOP CONTENT – Was well structured and thought through, Provided a variety and depth of content, Was at the right level of detail, The slides were easily understandable, The exercise was relevant and worthwhile, The case studies were useful and added-value = 93% Strongly Agree or Agree
• WORKSHOP OUTCOMES – I acquired new knowledge, I learned new ways of thinking, I learned new ideas to use in the workplace, I want to learn more about Change Management, I would recommend others to participate
The module also covers the four key project phases: initiation, planning, execution, and closing. It provides actionable insights into sponsor challenges and stakeholder assessment techniques.

TOPIC FAQ
What are the core responsibilities of a sponsor in a change project?
A sponsor’s core responsibilities include visibly supporting the change, defining decisions and resources, and carrying out specific activities during project stages. The module outlines the critical sponsor role, key responsibilities, and typical sponsor activities mapped across the 4 project phases: initiation, planning, execution, and closing.
How do you analyze and manage stakeholders during a change program?
Stakeholder analysis begins by identifying stakeholders, assessing their influence and attitude, and grouping them for targeted engagement. The module presents a simple stakeholder engagement model and explains stakeholder assessment techniques to determine engagement priorities and management actions using a stakeholder engagement model.
Which communication channels are recommended to create change awareness?
Channel selection should match audience preference and message complexity; examples include leadership briefings, email updates, workshops, and intranet posts. The module describes a simple communication model, options for different channels, and how to build awareness, illustrated with a case study in Session 3.
What should I look for when buying a change-management slide deck for stakeholder engagement?
Look for explicit coverage of sponsor roles, stakeholder analysis methods, communication models, and real case studies, plus whether slides are text-readable for self-study. The FCM 5 module provides those elements across 3 sessions and 70 slides.
Are pre-built course slides useful compared to bespoke consulting support for change activities?
Pre-built slides are useful for self-study and for teams that need ready-made frameworks to adapt; they may require facilitator knowledge since these are course slides provided without context. FCM 5 is delivered as the course slides for Module 5 of 8.
I need to secure executive sponsorship for a technology implementation—what should I include in a sponsor plan?
Include defined sponsor accountabilities, decision points, escalation routes, visible sponsorship activities, and timing aligned to project milestones. The module’s Sponsorship session outlines key sponsor activities and challenges and includes a related case study in Session 1.
How can I build a stakeholder communication plan after a merger?
Start with stakeholder mapping to identify influence and concerns, segment audiences for tailored messages, choose channels by audience, and schedule communications across project phases. The module offers a simple stakeholder engagement model and communication model to structure that plan using the stakeholder engagement model.
How do I evaluate the quality of a change-management slide deck for self-study?
Check for clear session structure, readable text for reading/writing learners, practical case studies, and whether animations or presentation-mode elements affect comprehension. FCM 5 notes slides are text-focused and includes 3 sessions with case studies, and slides were rated easily understandable by 93% of workshop respondents.
